My Journey
I was born and raised in Vietnam and moved to the U.S. at the age of 19. Back home, my cooking was limited to helping my mother by peeling garlic, smashing ginger, and doing the dishes. When I arrived in this country with broken English, working as a waitress and kitchen helper, I was finally able to taste the diverse flavors of my own culture, including authentic Vietnamese cuisine, that I hadn’t yet experienced in my small southern town.
As I started my own family, I realized that eating out was often too expensive and rarely tasted 'right.' Inspired by many talented chefs I met in the industry, on the go, and at different culinary events, I began to experiment in the kitchen to provide healthy, affordable family recipes for my family of four.
Food is Art, not a Rulebook
I believe that knowledge takes you further and that recipes should be evolving. My kitchen isn't about strict rules; it's about:
· Availability: Using what is fresh and on hand.
· Adaptability: Adjusting flavors to fit a busy family schedule.
· Creativity: Blending different cultures to create something new.
Food is an art form; there is no right or wrong. I love cooking across cultures, including my cooking traditions, adding my own 'twist' to everything I touch. Today, I cook for my family of four, blending tradition with whatever ingredients are available that day. My recipes have evolved over time to fit our family’s palate and our busy lives.
A Legacy for the Next Generation
These recipes are a gift for my children and future generations. Each person and culture is unique, and I feel lucky to blend them into something that is ours. I hope you enjoy this culinary art twisted with our family traditions.
I'm cooking, testing, and learning as I go! If you try a recipe and find a typo or something that doesn't work, drop a comment and let me know.
